No snow, but things are getting icy this weekend around the D

Ice carvings, boats, and historic sporting honors all happening in Metro Detroit

It’s now February, and winter is in full effect, so are the fun winter events, but that’s not the only thing on tap this weekend. Here’s a round up of what’s happening in Metro Detroit.

First up, the Lions made history by making it 1 game away from playing in the Super Bowl for the first time in history, and right now another Detroit team is reliving a huge moment in their past. A new exhibition pays tribute to the Detroit Pistons historical championship run. Visitors can revisit the thrill of the Pistons 1989 and 2004 championships in the exhibition, “Thirty Five-20.” The exhibit will feature memorabilia from the eras. Visitors can see all of this now through June 23 at the Detroit Historical Museum.

Now to an event that will have you looking forward to summer. The Detroit Boat Show has cruised into Huntington Place. This weekend is your last chance to check out the show that features hundreds of new boats and more. There are also tiki bars with live music, and a kids zone that includes several interactive activities. The show happen now through Sunday in Downtown Detroit.

In Berkley, the winter fun is just getting started. The annual Berkley WinterFest will feature bounce houses, ice sculptures, a petting farm, and more. The free fest happen Saturday, noon to 2 p.m. at the Berkley Community Center.

Lastly, the fun continues as the city of Plymouth gears up for one of the states largest ice festivals. The Plymouth Ice Fest, which is in its 42nd year, will once again feature tons of fun, including, a tubing run that’s more than 100 ft., performances, food, arts and crafts, and more than 60 ice carvings. The fest happens Friday through Sunday in Downtown Plymouth.
