A new restaurant called Blue Whale Cafe is bringing the feeling of the ocean to Ann Arbor. It features an ocean theme with blue tiles and monitors that stream whales swimming in the ocean.
Christy Kaledas, the owner of the Blue Whale Cafe, explained that she chose the name for the business because as a child blue whales were her favorite. Her dream was to grow up become a marine biologist and live by the ocean. “What’s better than living by the big blue ocean is opening a café in the home of Ann Arbor, the home of University of Michigan, which is where the other big blue is,” Kaledas said.
Smoothies on the restaurant’s menu has fun, ocean-themed names like Banana Fish, Green Sea Turtle, Poseidon’s Potion, and Marina Pearl. The café also serves raw cold pressed juices, acai bowls, bakery items, and more.
