High in the elevation of the Blue Mountains in Ontario, Canada, is something unique, according to Linda Service, VP of marketing and business development for Scenic Caves Nature.
“It’s Southern Ontario’s longest suspension bridge at 420 feet,” she told “Live in the D” reporter April Morton.
Service said it is actually built to arch in the middle in order to avoid too much of a sway when people cross over. The bridge can be enjoyed year round, but in the winter, the only way to cross is with snow shoes.
The bridge is located in the Scenic Caves Nordic Centre, a 370-acre park, just minutes away from Blue Mountain Resort. They also have cross country skiing and snow shoeing through wooded trails. Gear rentals are available.
If a more laid back activity is your cup of tea — or wine — a few minutes from Scenic Caves is the Georgian Hills Vineyards, where you can experience a private wine tasting and learn all about the very unique wines made from locally grown fruits.
After winding down, you can experience the area’s only outdoor nordic spa, Scandinave Spa.
Scandinave is situated on 25 acres of natural forest with beautiful views of the Niagara Escarpment. The spa offers a “Thermal Spa Experience,” which consists of a 3-part cycle: Body warming, refreshing cold rinse, and relaxation. This experience takes place outdoors all year round, and experts say has many wellness benefits.
