Dive into the Lunar New Year with the year of the dragon, bringing power, good fortune, and a bright year. It is said that it is customary to eat good food as it brings good luck, so Chef Tyler Haloostock with Hanna joined “Live in the D” to talk about a special Lunar New Year event happening this weekend.
Detroit restaurant Hanna will be hosting celebrations to bring on the year of the dragon. Included in the event, will be DJs, dragon dancers, along with special menu items.
Haloostock brought in Jasmine rice with tamari, gingers, and scallions, saying that rice as a whole, symbolizes happiness and “togetherness, that we all sit around a bowl of rice.” With the rice, he also showcased dumplings, which are said to bring along good fortune and wealth. Both of these food items will be featured at the event.
