February 9 was an unseasonably warm 60-degree day in Southeast Michigan, so it was a great time to be outdoors selling Girl Scout cookies. On that day, 12-year-old Ellie Brandon, a Girl Scout with a troop in Commerce Township, and her mother, Troop Leader and Cookie Manager, Michelle Brandon, picked up Girl Scout cookies.
“We had 13,000 on the truck (that day)” Michelle told “Live in the D,” reporter April Morton, which she said is pretty normal for her troop. In 2023, the troop sold 27,000 boxes of cookies between only 12 girls. As if this is not impressive enough, the process that takes place prior to hitting the selling booths are quite intensive and requires renting a U-Haul truck.
