All week long, Rob Stone has joined Tati Amare as her guest-host on “Live In The D”. Stone is familiar to the Detroit area as the host of “The Rob + Holly Show” on 99.5 WYCD Detroit’s Country. In addition to being on the radio, Stone is a country artist as well and this Saturday night he will be one of the openers for George Birge at District 142 in Wyandotte.
Stone says he’s always had a passion for music ever since he was a kid, something he credits his mom and dad for. He says they would put him to bed and crank up the music, but instead of going to sleep he would lay awake and soak it all in. “I think a lot of my passion for music came from all those classic records that my parents had,” said Stone.
It was in 2019, after several interviews with country performers for his radio show, that Rob finally decided to take what was a hobby to the next level. “I just kept thinking, you know, I think this is probably something that I can do,” said Stone. “It’s just a blessing that I get to be able to do this, and I’m just so grateful because there was a time I was terrified to sing in front of anyone.”
Now, he’s writing his own music and performing. Ahead of the show with George Birge, Stone performed one of his songs in studio that he wrote as a duet which he sings with Metro Detroit country artist GlenBrooke. The song is called “I Know” and shares a love story between two people who live across the street from each other and finally find the courage to express their feeling towards one another.
