School programs help young musicians sharpen their skills

Students can partake in music programs in Warren Consolidated Schools

A talented group of young musicians are getting an education in music thanks to programs happening in the Warren Consolidated School District.

“We have a very comprehensive music program,” said Jason Rose, the band director at Cousino High School in Warren. He explained that music programs are available in each of the district’s schools. Students can be in music programs from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Rose said that students have the opportunity to join band or choir in middle school. A performing arts program is also available for middle school and high school students.

“I think the most that kids get out of music is actually not music related at all. I think they get of lot of leadership skills. They get a lot of teamwork skills, a lot bonding skills,” Rose said.
