Going bald for a good cause

All proceeds for this event goes to childhood cancer research

St. Baldrick’s is a volunteer driven foundation that raises money for childhood cancer research.

Kevin Danaj with Romeo’s Lion’s Club appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about the St. Baldrick’s event they are hosting. Nicole Klosterman, from Randolph Salon and lead stylist for the event, and Steve Nakis, the Bruce Township Fire Chief, also appeared with Danaj to talk about their involvement.

For this event, people shave their heads to stand in solidarity with kids going through cancer treatment. Those who choose to shave their heads also raise money by collecting donations from sponsors who support each individual choosing to shave.

“It’s near and dear to my heart. It’s for the kids, and it’s a great cause,” said Nakis as he was about to get his head shaved live on the show.

Besides raising money, Danaj said it is also a great way to spread empathy and awareness. It’s also a great way for those who are going through cancer treatment to not feel alone.

The Romeo’s Lion Club St. Baldrick’s event will take place this Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Romeo Lion’s Fieldhouse.
