DETROIT – One Detroit woman has impacted thousands of people just like her, and she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Tyra Moore became pregnant at a young age, and has made it her life’s journey to support young mothers. Moore joined us on “Live In The D” to talk about the impact she’s made with her organization A Girl Like Me.
Moore says her organization was inspired by the generosity she received from friends, family and her community. She wanted to take that generosity and pay it forward to other young moms.
“I know I can’t pay all the people that helped me back, but I knew I could help girls like me and prevent this from happening to girls like me,” Moore said.
Moore’s next plan for the organization is to obtain a home and turn it into a resource hub for moms. There, she hopes to have a tutoring program, meals, a space to look for jobs, and more.
Moore is also in the process of starting a pantry for mothers who want to attend classes for childbirth, parenting, and other educational programs where they can receive baby books and more.
