Ann Arbor Film Festival kicks off March 26th

Event will be held in-person and online

Movie fans are gearing up for the Ann Arbor Film Festival, which is said to be the oldest avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America.

The 62nd Ann Arbor Film Festival kicks off on Tuesday, March 26th. Each year the festival gets more than 3,000 submissions from around the world, explained Chad Wiebesick with Destination Ann Arbor. He said it’s also one of the only Academy Award qualifying festivals in the United States.

The film festival will have movies playing at the Michigan Theater and State Theatre in downtown Ann Arbor. There’s also a streaming component to the festival.

The Ann Arbor Film Festival will run in-person from Tuesday, March 26th through March 31st. The online portion of the festival will extend through April 7th.

Festival attendees can buy individual tickets or can get a pass to see a number of films.
