Get a taste of the food at the NFL draft in Detroit

They’re serving up a Detroit-style bite

With the NFL draft right around the corner, there is a local catering company that will be catering many NFL hopefuls, staff, and others. Tammy Tedesco, owner of Edibles Rex, and Chef James Ellis. appeared on “Live In The D” to give a behind the scenes look of what’s being put together.

For them, “This is like huge for us, it’s the biggest stage we’ve been on in our 30 year career,” Tedesco said. Over the 30 years of their business, they have served United States Presidents, Michigan Governors, Detroit Mayors, and they were part of Super Bowl 40 in Detroit.

Leading up to, and during the draft, meals will be served to the behind the scenes crew, including production teams, security, media, and the people who pick the draftees. With this, they will be serving all of those people three meals a day, totaling to about 2000 meals a day.

While they’ve hired 7 chefs, the key to pulling off this big event is collaboration. “We couldn’t do it without collaboration, we’ve relied on our relationships with our venders,” she said.

During the event, they will cater foods featuring tastes of Detroit, including Greektown, Mexican Town, Dearborn Mediterranean influence, pizza, and barbeque. Specific featured foods include slow roasted brisket, St. Louis styled ribs, vegan pasta salad, mac and cheese, and much more.
