As the weather warms up, make sure pets are safe and don’t stray away

Expert gives tips on keeping pets healthy & out of harms way

The nice weather we’ve had lately has everyone getting outside a little more, and as people are getting out, so are pets. As our fur babies explore the world around them, there are ways to help keep them safe. Gillian Hanton with Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” to chat with host Tati Amare about critical things pet parents can do.

“The summer months are really big for dogs and cats getting lost in the community,” Hanton said. She gave a tip to help prevent this from happening, as well prevent any pet illnesses.

Have your pet microchipped. Even if they have a collar, the microchip will never fall off.

Vaccinate indoor as well as outdoor pets. If indoor pets get outside they can be exposed to diseases, if not vaccinated.

Hanton brought a cute, 3 month old kitten named Troy with her on the show, who’s available for adoption. The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fee for who ever adopt’s todays pet of the week.
