Try your hand at this trendy craft

The art of crochet is grabbing attention

Are you ready to try your hand at something new where you can see the results come to life right before your eyes?

You might want to give crocheting a try. Crochet was a big hit in the ‘70s and more recently it’s become wildly popular in music festival fashion. Viral videos about the art of crochet have people channeling their creative side and turning yarn into blankets, clothes, and beyond. Crochet has even been trending on the runways of the Designer Collections in London, Milan, Paris, and New York.

Digital Content Editor Jack Roskopp is among those who have hopped on the recent crochet trend. Jack shared that he picked up the hobby about six months ago, and since then he’s been hooked, literally. One of the big projects Jack is working on is a temperature blanket, which involves crocheting one row of a blanket each day for an entire year. It’s called a temperature blanket because each row of the blanket is made with a specific color of yarn that’s represents the high temperature of each day of the year.

If crocheting an entire blanket seems too daunting, Jack has some easy project ideas for beginners. Click here to check them out. You can watch the video above to see Jack’s temperate blanket and some of his other designs.
