Celebrate the meaning of Mother’s Day

Friends of “Live In The D” talk about the holiday

Flowers, family photos, jewelry and more, might be gifts handed out on Mother’s Day, but what does the holiday mean beyond the gifts?

Friends of “Live In The D” appeared on the show to talk about Mother’s Day. The conversation included “Live In The D” host Tati Amare, guest host and mom-to-be Camila Ballario, “Live In The D” reporter and mom of two April Morton, along with dad Blaine Fowler from “Blaine and Lauren” on 96.3 WDVD, and Mary Liz Curtin who is a mom of two and also the owner of Leon and Lulu and Three Cats café in Clawson.

First, Tati asked the group to describe the perfect Mother’s Day. Mary Liz said she’d like to stay out of the kitchen, have no responsibilities, and have someone else vacuum. Meanwhile, April shared that she would like to be left alone, have a day at the spa, and “quietness”.

The group also talked about the meaningful gifts they’ve received. Mary Liz talked about how she’s likes getting anything in her children’s handwriting. “It’s fabulous to look at notes that you got from your kids when they were tiny, as they grow up and learn how to communicate,” she said. “The little handwriting, and the ‘I love you, mom’ and that kind of stuff, to watch them grow with that, is really more touching than just about anything,” Mary Liz added. Blaine brought up getting artwork from the kids, while April chimed in about their handprints.

Finally, the group talked about their favorite things about the mother figure in their lives.

“My mom was hilarious, beautiful, made me laugh. Loved her. She was awesome,” Blaine said.

“My mother was a blast and she got me into retail,” Mary Liz said.

“My mom is always there,” April said. “Even now at my age, she’s still always there for whatever I need.”
