The next installment of the “Planet of the Apes” franchise hits screens this week, so get ready to step into a world where apes control the earth.
Actress Freya Allan plays the character Mae in “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”. She set the scene of the movie as a world where apes are the dominant species. Allan explained the plot of the film involves Mae discovering a whole new perspective on apes through her interactions with Noa, an ape who is on a mission to find his family and save them. Mae and Noa form a connection on that journey. According to Allan, Mae changes a lot by the end of the movie and surprises herself in a lot of ways.
In order to step into the role of an ape, all of the actors playing the apes went to “ape school” where they learned all of the physicality and figured out how they were going to do their voices and personalize their physicality to their characters, Allan said.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” will be released on May 10th. Watch the video above to learn more about the movie.
