Lots to do for mom this weekend

Carnival, putt putt, and boxing are all happening in Metro Detroit

As Mother’s Day approaches this weekend, and you’re looking for something fun to do with the special lady in your life, here are a few happenings in Metro Detroit.

First up, if you’re looking for a twist on Miniature Golf, head over to Cranbrook for some educational putt putt. Cranbrook on the green mini-golf returns for a third season. The unique course features designs from local student artists, and replicas of famous buildings and figures on Cranbrook’s campus. In honor of moms and mother figures, and to celebrate National Mini-Golf Day Saturday, the course will be free the entire weekend.

Next up, believe it or not, it’s carnival season, and Berkley is getting in on the action. The annual Berkley Days kicks off today and features a full midway with rides, food, live entertainment , a beer tent, and more. The fair runs through Sunday at 2400 Robina Avenue in Berkley.

Lastly, Detroit was just in the national spotlight with the NFL Draft, now the city will shine bright once again. The city will host the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions for the first time in 24 years. The event, put on by the Downtown Boxing Gym and the Metro Detroit Golden Gloves, will feature more than 300 male and female boxers from across the country competing for the title of National Golden Gloves Champion.
