More than 125 artists and makers will fill more than 25 yards with handmade art work, jewelry, and more, all while bringing three communities together. It’s called the “Backyard Art Fair” and for the event returns for the fifth year this Saturday.
Co-founder Carey Gustafson stopped by “Live in the D” to talk about the event that takes place in Oak Park, Ferndale, and Pleasant Ridge. “I have a home studio and do pop-ups, and there were other people too that work at home that are artists,” Gustafson said.
During the pandemic when they were looking for event alternatives, members of the community came together to hold these pop ups, where they sold jewelry and art at their homes.
The backyard art fair has been going strong, and continues to grow every year. The event runs 11a.m. to 6p.m. on Saturday.
