Get a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Warren

They’re serving a drink with a flavor that has to be imported from Vietnam

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Month and there is a place in Warren where you can immerse yourself in Vietnamese culture through their cuisine. It’s being served at 88 Bahn Mi & Bowl where they are celebrating being in business for one year and rolling out a new menu. Owner Alive Nguyen appeared on “Live In The D” to share some of what she makes, and the new menu.

The big new item that she is serving is the Pandan drink. You need Pandan syrup to make the drink and Nguyen says she has to import the syrup from Vietnam to be able to make it here.

Nguyen says she also is serving new skewer options that include shrimp and beef. But, she says her most popular items is the shrimp toast.

“A lot of other things will be coming out like Vietnamese rice paper, and cucumber salad, because nobody has it here. You can only find it in California and down South,” said Nguyen.

While on the show, she showed how she packages up her Bahn Mi sandwiches. To see how it’s done, and learn more about her restaurant, click the video player above.
