Memorial Day weekend is almost here and plenty of people are heading up north. If you have no plans to travel up north at least sometime this summer, Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau has got you covered.
The bureau’s Executive Director Paul Beachnau talked about the vast selection of things to do in Gaylord this summer on “Live in the D”.
The first thing Beachnau highlighted was the trails in Gaylord. North Central Trail in particular runs for 62 miles all the way from Gaylord to Mackinaw City, and he described it as stunning.
Gaylord has more than 90 small lakes that Beachnau described as perfect for standup paddle-boarding and kayaking. Not only does it have plenty of fresh water, but Gaylord also has a very active downtown area with plenty of new restaurants. To top it off, the downtown area has a free entry Friday night concert series that’s full of Michigan artists.
There are plenty of places to stay in Gaylord, but Beachnau put it simply saying, “I wouldn’t wait to book my lodging.”
