Center Line gears up for festival all about carnivals, cars, and community

Check out what’s happening at this annual event that’s fun for the whole family

With Memorial Day weekend come and gone, we’re all getting into that summer vibe. One way to really embrace the season is with a big summer festival.

The city of Center Line is inviting everyone to its town this weekend for the Center Line Independence Day Festival and Cruisin’ 53 Car Show. This annual event is open to the public and is fun for the whole family.

Center Line Mayor Bob Binson and vice president of operations for the Southeast Michigan Chamber of Commerce, John Long, appeared on “Live In The D” to let everyone know what’s happening. Binson said there’s a little bit everything for everybody.

“We’ve got all kinds of festivities,” he said. “We’ve got so much going on here, virtually the whole city is a festival. Some of the highlights he talked about were carnival rides for the kids, bounce houses, live music, several food vendors, and a beer tent.

There will also be three different themed nights for the festival. They are:

  • Friday — “Flashback Friday” is all about the reliving past decades with “Infinity & beyond Journey Tribute Band,” “The Square Pegs,” and “Sunset Blvd” providing music.
  • Saturday — “Saddle Up Saturday” is all about country music with “Mandi Layne & The Lost Highway,” “Shiatown,” “American Ages,” and “Family Tradition Band” providing music. Fireworks also happen Saturday night and Binson said they are “the biggest firework show in Macomb County.”
  • Sunday — “Salt Shaker Sunday” is all about the island vibe with “The Prolifics,” “Air Margaritaville,” and “The Magic Bus” providing music.

In addition to all of this, there is the Cruisin’ 53 Car Show, which is also part of the event on Sunday in front of ABC Warehouse.

“The reason we get this sort of turnout with this many great cars is because we have some of the best cash prizes for any car show,” Long said. The best in show will walk away with $1,000.
