Jack Harlow’s hit song ‘Lovin’ on Me’ originated in Detroit

The song came from a 1995 song by a Detroit artist

When you hear it, you can’t help but move, but what some may not know about the catchy hit sensation “Lovin’ On Me” by Jack Harlow, is it’s connection to Detroit. It samples the 1995 song by Detroit artist Delbert Greer, also known as Cadillac Dale, “Whatever (Bass Solique)”. Greer stopped by “Live In The D” to chat about how Harlow’s sample is taking on a brand new life, and taking the song to all new heights.

“It’s amazing and I still keep waking up at night like is this for real,” Greer said. He said the original song in 1995 never made the light of day the way they wanted to, so for years it sat dormant.

He said after receiving a message on Instagram asking was he Dale, and was it his song, everything changed.

The Jack Harlow’s version topped the Billboard charts and the video has over 117 million views on YouTube.
