Detroit is known for being home to amazing music, in addition to some impressive style. Now some of Detroit’s famous music artists will be showing off their singing skills and their style when they perform during a concert celebrating the reopening of the renovated Michigan Central in Corktown.
Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan appeared on Live In The D to talk about the style influence of three of the headlining performers, Diana Ross, Jack White, and Big Sean.
Jon started by discussing Big Sean’s style, which he classifies as elevated and effortless. Jon mentioned that the rapper can put on a track suit, a flannel shirt, or basic black and add a little bling. “He always meters the dose in the exact right amount. It never goes overboard,” Jon said.
Next, Jon moved on to Jack White’s style. He describes White’s images as being a combination of Johnny Cash and Johnny Depp. The Detroit musician White wore a red, white, and black color palette when he was a member of The White Stripes. However, Jon said that when White became a solo artist, he ventured much further into fine men’s tailoring.
Finally, Jon talked about the decades of style of the iconic Diana Ross. He said the singer rocked a bouffant hairstyle better than anyone else. “The thing about Diana Ross is she understands volume and flow and motion because she is the ultimate performer,” Jon said.
