Children’s summer hair care

Certified hair therapist gives summertime hair advice

Summer has officially begun, and the heat of the season means your kids are going to be outside. Taking care of your children’s hair is a necessity during these summer months. Tracy Weatherspoon, certified hair therapist, appeared on “Live in the D” alongside some child models to show how you can take care of your kids’ hair.

The first thing everyone needs to take care of is hair hydration. You can hydrate your hair with water and use a t-shirt to dry it, especially if you have curly hair. Using a t-shirt to dry your hair when you have curly hair is a great way of holding hydration.

The next thing Weatherspoon advised was rising your hair when you get out of pools, lakes, or beaches to get rid of chemicals, sand, salt, etc. Putting some sort of serum like a leave-in conditioner or heat protectant before you get in the water is always great as it serves as a barrier to protect your hair.

For girls, a side ponytail with a braid is a great hairstyle this summer as it takes her hair off her shoulders and keeps her cool. Heat protectant goes a long way for girls’ hair but also wearing a hat saves them from a potential sunburn.
