The Michigan Glass Project kicks off annual show

The project that benefits arts in schools runs Friday through Sunday

Today is the big day out at the Russell Industrial Center as the Michigan Glass Project is underway. The event at the creative hub will host local and international live artists, glass blowers, along with plenty of food and music.

Drew Kupps Co-Founder of Michigan Glass Project spoke on how much he appreciates the event and its longevity.

“The 10 year mark is pretty exciting for us. A lot of things don’t last very long, but this is true love. True love is forever. I really feel like this initiative has a lot of momentum, and we’re going to be carrying on for a lot more years,” said Kupps.

Kupps’ favorite part about the show is the generosity of the artists who come out. The artists sweat out a ton of different pieces all for it to be sold off in an auction. All of the proceeds of the auction go towards Art Road Nonprofit who will put all of the money towards art programs in Detroit public schools.

Kupps says you’ll never find a place in Michigan with this many artists in one area. The show runs through Sunday and you can find more information on their website.
