Eddie Murphy returns as Axel Foley in fourth ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie

Detroit is on full display in the new film

It’s a blast from the past in two different ways. A character people know and love is back in a new movie, and a new Western will give us a look at life before there was law. Movie reviewer Greg Russell shared his thoughts on “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” and “Horizon:An American Saga” in this week’s Reel Talk.

In “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”, Axel Foxy is once again played by Eddie Murphy. The cop from Detroit has to return to Beverly Hills after his daughter runs into some trouble. Foley once again teams up with familiar faces Taggart and Rosewood, once again played by John Ashton and Judge Reinhold respectively, to solve a new crime. Russell talked to Murphy about the move and Murphy said he never could have imagined doing a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” 40 years after the original. The next installment of the franchise is on Netflix on Wednesday, July 3.

The movie “Horizon: An American Saga” is in theaters this weekend. This is written, directed by, and stars Academy Award winner Kevin Costner. This movie is split into two parts with the second movie coming out August 16th. This movie is about the exploration of the American west in a 12 year span, pre and post Civil War. Russell spoke to Costner who said he wanted to make a movie that shows young boys and girls what life was really like for their great, great relatives, when there was no law. Russell gave the movie 4 out of 5 reels.
