Smash more flavor into your burger this Fourth of July

Expert gives tips on grilling the perfect ‘smash burger’

We’re just a few days away from the Fourth of July holiday, and many will start firing up the grill. Before you light up a grilling expert from Certified Angus Beef has some tips, to on how to make the perfect “smash burger.”

“A smash burger is where you actually portion your ground beef out and then take a heavy duty spatula and smash it right into that griddle,” said Gavin Pinto, a Chef with the Certified Angus Beef Brand.

He said doing this helps to create a deep flavorful crust, and helps the burger cook quickly. He said the key to making a good smash burger is to smear the meat on the griddle after smashing it down with the spatula. He stopped by “Live in the D,” to share his recipe for the “Oklahoma Smash Onion Burger.”
