Keep your makeup looking cool in the summer heat

Makeup artist shares advice

The summer heat is on, which can mean your makeup almost feels like it’s melting off your face. However, there are ways to stay looking cool on those hot summer days.

Makeup artist Brandi Taylor appeared on “Live In The D” to share some pro tips for summer-proofing your makeup. Taylor’s philosophy is that less is more, especially in the summertime.

First, Taylor stressed the importance of skincare. She mentioned the need to cleanse and moisturize daily. Taylor explained that moisturizing your skin in the summer is still important because she said when your skin is dehydrated, it will actually produce more oil. Taylor encourages using a lightweight moisturizer in the summer. Of course, sunscreen is also key.

When it comes to keeping your summer makeup in place, primers and setting sprays can be helpful. If you’re going to use a setting spray, Taylor suggests using one that is mattifying.

Taylor also discussed some of the color trends for the summer. Don’t be surprised if you see coral or shades of pinks and oranges as popular makeup colors this season.

Brandi Taylor will be holding an upcoming makeup class on July 27th. Watch the video above to learn more about her class and for additional makeup advice.
