From sand volleyball to axe throwing, this place has it all

A Commerce Township sports complex offers fun, food, and a little competition

If you’re looking for something new to try this summer, On the Dunes in Commerce may be just the place to go. This sports bar, restaurant, and games facility provides more than a few unique activities.

General manager, Michael Fluegel says they are a rare find. “Where else are you going to go to throw axes, play volleyball, use golf simulators, get baseball training, play dodgeball? There’s just a plethora of activities here where you can entertain, above and beyond the norm”

The 65,000 square foot complex was previously a lumber yard and the sand for their beach volleyball courts are shipped directly from the sleeping bear sand dunes, hence the name “On the Dunes”.

If casual play isn’t enough action, there’s also professional training. PGA pros are available for lessons and through their Grit over Gift program, experienced baseball professionals offer youth pitching and hitting classes.

When you’ve worked up an appetite from a game of dodgeball or football bowling, On the Dunes offers a full bar and a variety of menu items including their popular cobb salad and loaded nachos.
