Lots of people have a plan for what to do if there’s a fire in their home, but is their pet included? Lidia Vesterfelt of Michigan Humane stopped by “Live in the D” alongside the pet of the week, Hashbrown, to share some pet fire safety tips.
Vesterfelt mentioned one thing to do to be prepared for a fire is to check the spots where pets usually hide or nap, as these are the likely places pets will retreat if an emergency occurs. She also suggested the following:
- Keep your pets microchip updated in case you get separated
- Keep flammable objects out of pet’s reach
- Keep collars and leashes near the door
Hashbrown is a two-month-old kitten who needs a family who will provide him enrichment along with plenty of toys and treats. The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fee for whoever adopts him.
