Michigan Jazz Festival returns for its 29th year

The festival once again takes place at Schoolcraft College

Jazz music will once again fill the air at a free festival taking place at Schoolcraft College this Sunday. The Michigan Jazz Festival is returning to the campus for the 29th year and organizer Jeff Trudell appeared on “Live In The D” to let everyone know what is planned.

“It’s free jazz all day,” said Trudell. “There are 30-some acts. We have a piano stage. We have a cabaret stage, which is just vocal and piano. We have small group stages.”

Trudell said that education is a big part of the festival as well, and many young performers will get to play alongside experienced jazz musicians on their stages.

The Jeff Trudell Jazz Orchestra will play Sunday at 7:15 p.m. at the festival. To hear a preview of their performance, click the video player above.
