Create your own stained glass art

Glass Action Studio offers a class great for beginners

Whether you’re looking for a new window, a nightlight, or just want to create some art, you can head over to Glass Action Studio in Oak Park. Carey Gustafson, owner of Glass Action Studio, appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about how she is able to turn mere pictures into stained glass works of art.

Gustafson shared that she came up as a stained glass fabricator that brought her art to pop-up shows during the indie craft boom. At her studio she offers “MAKE A THING” classes where people can come in and create stained glass pieces on their own. Gustafon made it clear that this course is great for beginners, but its only accessible to people 17 and up.

Her work has received national attention from celebrities like Jon Hamm and Conan O’Brien. She put some of her work on social media and word spread. Some friends of hers were on O’Brien’s show and shared her work with him.

Currently, Gustafon does a show a month and has a home pop-up show next weekend. Her art will also be featured at Clawson Fest in August.

To get a class with Gustafon you must prepay and make an appointment.
