The summer has already been packed with events, and this weekend is no exception. There’s tons to do in and around Detroit, and the music lovers will have their fair share of concerts happening all over.
First up, a much anticipated event is in full effect. The Concert of Colors is a free festival that celebrates diversity through music, dance, performances, and more. The event that spans from Midtown to Downtown, and throughout Metro Detroit’s cultural institutions. The Concert of Colors runs through Sunday.
Next, in Ypsilanti Township, the John E. Lawrence Summer Jazz Series returns with some smooth sounds. The event that features local and national artists will welcome international saxophonist Marion Meadows. The artist will take the stage Friday evening at 7 p.m.. The series runs Fridays through the end of August at Ford Lake Park.
Music will be a part of the fun at the Festa Italiana happening in Sterling Heights. The annual event that brings Italian heritage to Freedom Hill County Park will feature food, entertainment, a kids zone, and more. The festival runs Friday through Sunday.
Old school sounds will fill the air at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit as the 2nd annual Riverfront Music Fest kicks off. The event features R & B artists like Jacquees and Queen Naija on Saturday. Then on Sunday get ready for 90′s icons Monica, Kelly Price, and KeKe Wyatt. K. Michelle will also perform. There will also be a R & B sing along. The festival happens Saturday and Sunday evening.
