Protect your indoor-outdoor cats

Michigan Humane shares advice for pet parents

It’s the time of year where you might be spending more time outside, and that might also be the case for your pets. There are certain steps you’ll want to take to make sure your pets stay safe.

AnnMarie Chamberlain with Michigan Humane appeared on “Live In The D” to offer some advice for people who own indoor-outdoor cats. She stressed the need for making sure your cats are up-to-date on vaccines and monthly flea and tick preventatives. AnnMarie recommended doing full body checks on your cats to look for fleas, ticks, and bot fly larvae. She also talked about the need for cats to wear a well-fitting collar with identifying information. Pet parents can also consider GPS monitors on collars.

If you have an indoor cat that you want to give some outdoor time a “catio” could be an option. It’s an enclosure that gives them fresh area. Another option is taking them for a walk in a pet stroller.

While appearing on “Live In The D”, AnnMarie also introduces an adorable kitten named Hula who needs a forever home. Hula was described as being cuddly and sweet. The Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fee for whoever adopts Hula. You can watch the video above to meet her.
