Try these tricks to capture pictures of your pets

Professional pet photographer shares advice

National Dog Photography Day is July 26, so pet parents will want to be sure to snap some adorable pictures of the four-legged members of the family.

Despite how precious fur babies can be, sometimes it can be tricky to capture those cute moments on camera. Christine O’Brien the professional pet photography behind Ruff Life Photography appeared on “Live In The D” to share some tips for pet parents who want to take their own photographs.

Christine recommends getting down low when you’re taking photographs of pets. She explained that you can also elevate your dog by having them sit in a chair. Another piece of advice Christine shared is to crinkle a treat bag to get your pet to look at the camera. Using a squeaker to get their attention is also an option. Pet parents can even ask their dog for a paw to almost make the photo look like the pet is taking a selfie.

When it comes to backgrounds for pet photos, Christine likes parks, bridges, and seasonal flowers, such as a lavender field. She recommends tiring out dogs before taking pictures in order to make it a more stress-free experience for the pets.

If pet parents want to leave the photography to the professionals, Christine has some upcoming themed pet portrait events. She will be doing photographs at Premier Pet Supply Detroit on Saturday, Aug. 10th from noon to 3 p.m. The photo session will have a camping theme. Then on Sunday, Aug. 25th, Christine will be doing an Under the Sea-themed photo session at Premier Pet Supply Troy from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
