Volunteers for something new with this familiar organization

They say they can’t do it without their volunteers

When it comes to the Girl Scouts, we know it’s all about having fun, learning, experiencing and exploring new adventures, but there are some unsung heroes helping to make this all possible, the volunteers. Lynda Dandridge is one of the volunteers with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan and has been for more than 25 years.

She said she became a troop leader when her daughter was small, and fell in love with it and all the girls, so she never stopped, although her doughtier is now grown. “I think the girls are leaders, and if I can bring out that part of them being leaders then that’s why I’m here,” Dandridge said.

She and a few dozen other volunteers were recently honored by the organization at their Detroit office located near Eastern Market. The volunteers were treated to massages, treats, and gift bags as a way of showing appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the troops.

There are several ways someone can offer their services and the Scouts are always looking for new volunteers.
