Sunflowers, art, and milestone celebrations: lots happening in the D this weekend

Something for just about everyone to do in Metro Detroit

Believe it or not, the summer is starting to wind down, but there are still plenty of things to do in Metro Detroit, including adding a little brightness to your weekend.

The annual Sunflower Fest at Blakes Cider Mill will feature DIY workshops, over 200 artisan with handmade goods, kids activities and more. There will also be the chance to pick some sunflowers, as well fruit and veggies. The Fest runs Friday-Sunday 17985 Armada Center, Armada.

Next up, it’s the Grosse Pointe Art Fair. The annual event will take place on the beautiful grounds at the Ford House estate. The fair will feature food, live acoustic performances, and award winning artists. It’s all happening Saturday-Sunday 10a-5p, 1100 Lake Shore Rd. Grosse Pointe.

On to another milestone celebration. The Belle Isle Aquarium is celebrating its 120th anniversary. The Detroit jewel will host a family day that includes story time, crafts, a bounce, food truck and more. The celebration happening Sunday 11a-4p.
