Festival in Detroit set to celebrate music and culture

Afro Nation is Aug. 17th & 18th

Music will be sounding and people will be dancing in Detroit this weekend during Afro Nation, which is considered the world’s largest Afrobeats festival.

The festival will bring together Afrobeats artists, along with artists from other genres like hip hop, RnB, and dancehall. The festival lineup includes acts like Rema, Lil Wayne, Asake, Kash Doll, Kelvin Momo, and others.

“When you listen to Afrobeats it’s beyond the music,” said Afro Nation co-founder Smade. “It’s understanding who you are, your roots, your background, and it takes you back home to Africa,” he added. Smade said the festival goes beyond music with fashion, food, creative talent, and beautiful people merging together.

Afro Nation will be held Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th at Bedrock’s Douglass Site in Detroit. Watch the video above for more information.
