A safe haven for young adults is coming to Ann Arbor

A husband and wife provide a holistic approach to mental health

The Go 4 It Campaign on Local 4 shines a spotlight on people who Go 4 It and make a difference in the community.

Garretts Space is a labor of love for Julie and Scott Halpert who lost their son to suicide in 2017.

Inspired by Garrett and focused on young adults ages 18 to 28 struggling with depression and/or anxiety, the space will offer a holistic approach to care for them in several ways. The Halpert’s say Garrett was compassionate, genuine and people were just drawn to him. These traits are at the foundation of Garrett’s Space.

The center will be a supportive space with a non-medical feel, a haven from the outside world where young adults feel safe and supported. They will offer inpatient stays and outpatient programs and will continue their already successful wellness program.

The Halperts say they are grateful to the community surrounding them during this journey to their ideal facility and currently are gearing up for their annual Go 4 Garrett’s space fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held August 24th in Ann Arbor and there’s an online silent auction running alongside the fundraiser.
