It’s your chance to learn about a life in tech in Detroit

People are gathering to chase their dreams

Tech is all around us and it’s something we use every day which makes sense why so many people are interested in a life in the industry. There’s so much to do and many want to learn how to chase their dreams but don’t know where to start, that’s where Black Tech Saturdays steps in.

The organization is the brainchild of Johnnie and Alexa Turnage. “It actually started out with me and another tech founder working together and supporting each other,” said Johnnie. “And when we had the conversation and said other people should be involved, we were like ‘What should we call it?’. Well, it’s mostly black people doing tech on a Saturday.”

The group hosts events that are all about bringing people together to empower black professionals. They’ve blossomed over their first year and gained attention of a ton of people including venture capitalists and tech founders.

This October, the organization will hold its first Detroit Digital Power Summit. “We will be welcoming guests from around the country to come to learn quick tools, like, how can you enable your business with technology.”
