Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut hits theaters this weekend

Channing Tatum stars in this psychological thriller

Movie reviewer Greg Russell joined “Live in the D” to talk about two films releasing this weekend.

First, “Blink Twice” is about a tech billionaire (Channing Tatum) who invites cocktail waitress, Frida (Naomi Ackie), to a dream vacation on his private island. Strange things begin to happen, and Frida begins to question her reality. The movie also stars Alia Shawkat, Christian Slater and Haley Joel Osment. This is Zoë Kravitz’s first time directing, and she also co-wrote the screenplay. Russell gives “Blink Twice”, three and a half out of five reels.

Next, Russell talked about “The Killer”, directed by John Woo. This remake of Woo’s 1989 Hong Kong film of the same name, centers around an assassin who refuses to kill someone. In turn, she becomes the one hunted. The film stars Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy. Russell gives “The Killer” four out of five reels and it is now streaming on Peacock.
