This restaurant fuses Indian Tradition and Detroit culture

Time Magazine says it has some of the best food in the city

Midnight Temple, located in Eastern Market, is more than just a restaurant, it’s a fusion of cultures and experiences. Starting as a street food stand, it has transformed into a lively gastropub offering Indian cuisine, a full bar, and a range of events that reflect the energy of Detroit.

The décor, inspired by both Detroit and India, showcases the unique vision of owner Akash Sudhakara. From the colorful staircase to the Prince-inspired logo, every detail tells a story.

“We wanted a place that feels like home,” says Akash, blending the warmth of his upbringing with the vibrancy of his heritage.

The menu features recipes straight from Akash’s mother’s kitchen, offering comforting yet intriguing dishes that resonate with both locals and newcomers.

Beyond food, Midnight Temple hosts events like the Haus of Raya fashion show and the Mehdi Arshed MCSDA B-boy competition, making it a cultural hub in the community.
