A new way to grill your steaks this Labor Day weekend

Do you know how to reverse sear?

Labor Day weekend is a time when everyone enjoys getting together to celebrate the last long weekend of the summer. For many, it also means firing up the grill for another taste of summer. Ashley Breneman, chef with Certified Angus Beef Brand, talked with “Live In The D” host Tati Amare to share a different way you can cook up steak this holiday weekend.

Beneman suggested that people try a reverse sear on their steaks. This is when you oven cook your steaks first and then sear them in a pan or on a grill to lock in that flavor with a nice outside crust.

“Our brand is certified for flavor which means or marbling specification is going to ensure the best eating experience every time,” said Breneman.

After seasoning and cooking your steaks in the oven at 200 degrees, for about 45 minutes, you can transfer them to a hot pan and sear on each side for 1 to 2 minutes. Once each side is seared, you should allow the steaks to rest 3 to 5 minutes then serve.

Breneman says this technique is “full proof” for any cut of steak. “I know the inside of this, when I cut into it, is going to be a perfect medium rare.” It’s all because you cook the steak to temperature before searing it.
