From crafting a custom table to designing a quilt, The Hawk Makerspace offers an environment where creativity knows no bounds. Located in Farmington Hills, this expansive 5,000-square-foot space empowers makers of all ages and skill levels by providing access to top-notch technical resources.
According to the City of Farmington Hills’ Cultural Arts Coordinator, Jessica Guzman, The Hawk Makerspace offers a wide range of classes and workshops. With options ranging from 6-week, 10-week, and 12-week courses to one-day workshops, there’s something for everyone. This September, the space will feature unique classes catering to diverse interests like skateboard making and design print and sew.
One of the most popular offerings is the woodshop class led by instructor Dave Zaret. In the 12-week course, students will have the opportunity to design and build a table from scratch. Zaret emphasizes that classes like these teach participants how to safely operate equipment, master essential techniques, and gain the confidence to create projects independently.
To celebrate its second anniversary, The Hawk Makerspace is hosting an open house on Friday, September 13th. The event is free and open to the public featuring live demonstrations, giveaways, discounts on passes, and refreshments.
