The village of Romeo may be small, but the food scene is huge

During the Peach Fest and beyond, dinners have several options while visiting Romeo

ROMEO, Mich. – The village of Romeo is known for its small-town charm, but some may not know that the food scene there—well, let’s say—doesn’t disappoint.

During this week’s “Dine in the D,” “Live in the D’s” Reporter April Morton stopped by a few restaurants along Main Street in Downtown Romeo for a tasty tour.

First, she visited Peaches Brunch House, which had only been open for a few months.

“We do everything homemade and local,” owner Noah Vukaj said.

By local, he means they purchase fruits and veggies from the surrounding community. They have a few popular menu items, like the avocado and strawberry salad, and their most sold item, the PBH French Toast. Peaches Brunch House is located at 130 S. Main. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Right next door is “Thee Office Pub and Cookery,” a restaurant and bar that has been a part of the community for over 40 years.

“It’s the family feel. You walk in, and everybody knows your name,” General Manager Michael Murdoch said as he described the iconic restaurant.

Another legendary aspect of the menu is Murdoch’s statement that one thing that remains on it is their very popular homemade Gumbo, which people travel miles for. The restaurant is located at 128 S. Main Street. Its hours are 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. most days.

If you’re looking for a place to grab and go without sacrificing the freshness, check out the “Rustic Bluebird Marketplace.”

“We have a soup bar, salad bar, sandwiches, everything made fresh,” Owner Deana Hussey said. During Peach Fest, they will offer several peach-inspired dishes, like peach salads, peach drinks, and something that sold out last year, peach pie. They have two locations, 246 N Main St, Romeo, and 102 S Main St, Almont; they open at 11 a.m.
