A dessert shop in Dearborn is combining two popular food concepts to create a sweet treat called a croffle. A croffle is a croissant that’s cooked in waffle machine. Then it’s topped with cream and other ingredients, such as crumbled Oreos or crumbled Biscoff cookies.
House of Chimney Cakes owner Elizabeth Fardoun described croffles as having a “crispy crunchy outside, soft and chewy inside.” She explained that the idea was inspired by a South Korean dish that she learned about through a viral video on TikTok.
After making croffles at home a few times, she decided to make them at her shop in Dearborn. They now offer a variety of flavors like strawberries and cream, cookies and cream, jalapeno cheddar, chocolate glaze, and more.
In addition to their croffles and namesake chimney cakes, the shop has also hopped on the Dubai chocolate trend. However, they’ve taken it up a notch by offering different flavors like a strawberry Turkish bar and a cookie butter filled bar.
