From a clothing swap, to celebrating grandparents, lots to do around Detroit

Time to make plans for the weekend at these events

The weekend is upon us, and if you’re looking for something to do in and around Detroit, you’ve got options.

First up, if you’re looking for a unique shopping experience, check out the Revamp Clothing Swap. Grab your gently used clothing and accessory items and head to Midtown to swap your goods for other digs from people within the community. Any remaining items will be donated to a local shelter or community in need. Its happening Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Detroit Shipping Company.

Next, in Rochester, the annual Art and Apples Festival is happening. The event will feature 250 artists, entertainment, and the fruit of the season, apples, and apple inspired foods and drinks. There will also be a kids art zone, and food vendors. The fest runs Friday to Sunday at the Rochester Municipal Park.

Next the Hawk in Farmington Hills will put on a kiddie disco. The event is for those 18 months to 5 years old and their caregivers. It will feature a unique performance perfect for the little ones, to expose them to music and art. The mini dance party is happening Friday 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and every first Friday through next June.

The city of Trenton is gearing up for their first ever Trenton Art Festival. Highlights of the fest will include murals, sculptures, and art displays from more than 20 local venues along Jefferson Avenue. There will also be children’s activities, and an art scavenger hunt through more than a dozen locations. The week long fest kicks off Saturday in downtown Trenton.

Lastly, Grandparents Day is this Sunday, and to celebrate the Michigan Science Center will offer a special membership discount for grandparents. This will be the final weekend of the Above and Beyond Aerospace Exhibit. The first 150 guests will receive Dutch Girl Donuts.
