You might have seen him on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “The Good Place”, or “The Baby-Sitters Club”, but actor Marc Evan Jackson’s passion for acting goes behind the screen.
Jackson is a co-founder of the Detroit Creativity Project, which is a nonprofit. Their flagship program is called The Improv Project, and it teaches kids the art of improvising or doing unscripted theater. Jackson said that improv can teach students a set of skills that can help them at home or later in life. The Improv Project has also expanded to teach educators.
“In order to improvise well, you have to listen, and you have to work as a team, and you have to show up with energy and get on board,” Jackson said.
Jackson’s connection to the Motor City started in the 90s during his time at the Second City in Detroit. When asked how Detroit has helped to shape his career, Jackson said it taught him “grit” and a good work ethic.
