Local non-profit gives children in Liberia hope for a brighter future

A Detroit engineer saw the need and acted on it

Anthony Watson’s passion for giving back to his homeland of Liberia has grown into a life-changing non-profit organization, Loving Arms for Liberia, which has positively impacted thousands of children and families. Founded with the mission of addressing critical needs in the Liberian community, the organization provides essential resources, such as food, education, and access to computer labs, while offering a variety of support services. Its programs help bridge gaps in opportunity, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who may not have had access to these resources otherwise.

As Loving Arms for Liberia gears up for its annual charity dinner, this Saturday, Watson and project coordinator Danielle Abrams stopped by “Live in the D” to share more about their initiatives and the upcoming event. The dinner promises to be a vibrant celebration of Liberian culture, featuring traditional food, entertainment, and a raffle with prizes sourced directly from Liberia. More than just a fundraiser, this event is designed to give attendees an immersive look at the impact their donations are making in the community, highlighting the tangible ways Loving Arms for Liberia is fulfilling its mission.

The charity dinner will serve as both a fundraising event and an opportunity to deepen the connection between the organization and its supporters, showcasing the profound impact of their contributions on the lives of Liberians in need.
