Transformers, witches, and Halle Berry are all back on screens this weekend. Movie reviewer, Greg Russell, joined “Live in the D” to talk about a few new titles you could watch.
First up, is “Never Let Go” starring Halle Berry. This thriller follows a mother, and her twin sons haunted by a malevolent spirit. As one son begins to doubt the existence of the threat, the family’s bond fractures, plunging them into a perilous fight for survival. Russell describes the film as a psychologically intense experience that will keep viewers guessing.
Next, Russell delved into “Transformers One”, a prequel to the franchise. This animated feature explores the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, detailing their relationship and its impact on CyberTron. Russell rates the film 3.5 out of 5 reels, noting it’s the first animated installment since “The Transformers: The Movie”
On the Marvel front, “Agatha All Along” brings back fan-favorite Agatha Harkness played by Kathryn Hahn. Set three years after her entrapment in Westview, Agatha teams up with a goth teen to navigate a new world of magic and face old adversaries. Actress Sasheer Zamata, who plays Jennifer Kale, tells Russell, “Every episode is so different. there are so many different tones episode to episode and so many twists and turns”
For fans of true crime, “Cowboy Cartel” offers a gripping look at a rookie FBI agent’s pursuit of a multimillion-dollar money laundering operation linked to Mexico’s Los Zetas cartel within the American Quarter Horse racing scene.
