Take a step back in time with Noir City Detroit

The Redford Theatre will host a weekend of classic cinema as part of the Noir City Film Festival

Film Noir is a genre that thrived in the mid-20th century, and is renowned for its gritty style, complicated characters, and dark themes.

Eddie Muller, host on Turner Classic Movies and a leading authority on Film Noir, will moderate Noir City Detroit and stopped by “Live in the D” to discuss what draws audiences to the genre. “The style of Film Noir is so specific that people can grasp it,” Muller explained.

Among the films scheduled for screening is “Victims of Sin” (1952), an example of Mexican Film Noir that showcases the genre’s international influence. The festival will also feature “Brute Force,” which Muller says is “the greatest prison movie ever made.”

Film enthusiasts and newcomers alike will have the chance to experience these classics and more from September 20th to 22nd.
